June 2023 Updates

Protecting player information from errors

There are some changes in June 2023 which are intended to make it easier to control the information on players that you hold for your club.

Most significantly, users who access your club information from a link or QR code can not add, delete, or edit players.

They can still change player state – whether the player is present, absent or resting.

If you want them to have the same permissions as before, you need to go to the club information (globe button), click “User Access”, identify the user (if they have not logged in they will have an arbitrary u12345 type userid), and then click “Player Edit Access”.

If you just want them to see information, and not change anything, you can click “Viewer Access Only” (this has not changed).

Again as before, the permissions by default are only for the current day – if you want them to apply to the user for future sessions, click “Make perm”.

It is recommended that if the user needs this, they should register with an email address and a password, so they can log in again in future. As a reminder, we do not share email addresses with anyone, they are only so you can get password reset emails.

Delete Button

The other protection is that the delete button, on players and on games, has been made safer. Normally it is green. If you press it when green, it does not immediately delete, instead it turns red. To delete the player, you have to press the delete button, wait for it to turn red, and then press it again. If you don’t press within a few seconds, it goes back to green.
