Setting up sessions

There is a change to the way VsBadminton keeps track of your playing sessions.

Up until now, when you set up a club, every day that you played games in that club was a separate session.

The change is that now a session remains until you click the “Start a New Session” button on the Club page.

That’s a small change, but it has some benefits.

But first, it does give you the option of resuming a session that you played previously. You should not do this. vsBadminton will calculate the time players have been waiting as if they were sitting courtside for the whole period since their previous games, which will throw off the calculations.

However it does mean that you can set up a session ahead of time, including before the actual date of the games. Since no waiting times are counted ahead of the first game starting, there is no confusion there.

It also means your session can carry on past midnight. That’s a minor point for clubs in vsBadminton’s home region of Western Europe, but could be rather vital in other parts of the world, particularly in Asia where most of the world’s badminton players actually live.

So, no changes are required, but do choose “Start new session” rather than “Play” on the Club screen if you are actually playing a new real-life session. But feel free to start the new session in vsBadminton the day before if you know who is going to be playing and it is more convenient for you that way.
